Answers to common questions about moon phase calculations, eclipse tracking, and how a personalized lunar report works.
A standard moon calendar shows generic phase dates for everyone. This report calculates the lunar cycle from your exact birth data and geographic coordinates, then layers AI interpretation on top — so the guidance is personal, not one-size-fits-all.
Birth time determines the precise positions of planets in your natal chart. Even a small shift — 10 to 15 minutes — can change house placements and aspects. The more accurate your birth time, the more relevant the cycle recommendations become.
We use a high-precision astronomical ephemeris to determine the Moon’s exact ecliptic longitude at any given moment. The phase is derived from the angular separation between the Sun and the Moon — a 0° angle is a New Moon, 180° is a Full Moon, and every point in between maps to a specific phase name and illumination percentage.
You receive the current phase name, illumination percentage, cycle age in days, waxing or waning stage, the Moon’s zodiac sign, upcoming key phase dates (New Moon, First Quarter, Full Moon, Last Quarter), and nearest lunar and solar eclipses.
Yes. The system detects the nearest upcoming lunar and solar eclipses by analyzing the alignment geometry of the Sun, Earth, and Moon relative to the lunar nodes. Eclipse type, date, and the celestial body involved are shown alongside practical AI guidance on how to navigate these periods.
AI receives your natal chart placements together with the full lunar snapshot — current phase, upcoming windows, and eclipse data — and produces a structured reading with a cycle overview, key timing windows, and practical recommendations written in clear, supportive language.
Yes. After the report is generated, you can save the interpretation to your account history and return to it any time you want to review the cycle guidance or compare with future reports.
Understanding your personal lunar cycle goes far beyond knowing whether the Moon is full or new. Our system performs a series of precise astronomical calculations to give you an accurate, personalized picture of the Moon’s influence at any point in time.
01
Every phase calculation starts with a high-precision astronomical ephemeris — a mathematical model that tracks the exact position of the Moon along the ecliptic at any given moment. The phase is derived from the angular separation between the Sun and the Moon in the sky: when the angle is 0°, you see a New Moon; at 90° you reach the First Quarter; at 180° the Full Moon appears; and at 270° comes the Last Quarter. The complete cycle — known as the synodic month — lasts approximately 29.53 days. From the phase angle we also compute the illumination percentage using spherical geometry, giving you a precise number rather than a rough estimate.
02
In addition to the phase itself, the system determines which zodiac sign the Moon currently occupies by mapping its ecliptic longitude onto the twelve 30-degree segments of the zodiac. It also tracks the waxing or waning stage and the exact age of the current lunar cycle in days — all of which are essential context for astrological timing.
03
The orbital model predicts the precise moment of each upcoming New Moon, First Quarter, Full Moon, and Last Quarter, showing you how many days remain until each event. Eclipse detection works by analyzing the Moon’s proximity to its orbital nodes — the points where the Moon’s path crosses the ecliptic plane. When a New Moon or Full Moon occurs near a node, an eclipse becomes possible; the system identifies the type (total, partial, annular, or penumbral) and reports the date of the next lunar and solar eclipses.
04
All lunar data is combined with a natal chart calculated from your birth date, time, and place. The natal chart establishes the positions of the Sun, Moon, and planets at the moment of your birth. By overlaying the current lunar snapshot onto your natal placements, the AI can offer cycle guidance that speaks directly to your chart — rather than generic advice that applies to everyone equally.
If you want to go beyond a simple moon calendar and understand how the lunar cycle connects to your personal chart — with real astronomical calculations and practical AI guidance — this tool gives you both precision and clarity in one place.
