Classical interpretation
Between the alternative readings there is no marriage possible; on the one hand, riches, fortune, magnificence; on the other, physical suffering, disease, chagrin, sadness, mortification. The design gives one suggestion; here is a lord overlooking his dominion and alternately contemplating a globe; it looks like the malady, the mortification, the sadness of Alexander amidst the grandeur of this world's wealth.

Reversed, the Two of Wands suggests hesitancy. You may be afraid to leave your comfort zone, or you are making a move without a proper plan. It warns against staying small out of fear.
Fear of change
Clinging to the familiar. You know you should move on, but fear holds you back. Staying in a dead-end situation for security.
Lack of direction
Wandering without a map. Disorganized planning leads to failure. Losing sight of the big picture.
Canceled plans
Travel or expansion plans are delayed or canceled. Frustration with lack of progress.
Overconfidence
Thinking you own the world without doing the work. Arrogance leading to a fall.
