Introduction
The Seven of Pentacles is a pause in the work. Its meaning is reviewing your garden. You built in the Three, saved in the Four, lost in the Five, received in the Six, and now you stop to ask: am I even going in the right direction? Does this work bring the fruits I wanted?

Stop to reflect on intermediate results and adjust your strategy.
Classical interpretation
These are exceedingly contradictory; in the main, it is a card of money, business, barter; but one reading gives altercation, quarrel—and another innocence, ingenuity, purgation.

Reversed, the Seven of Pentacles is disappointment. You waited and the crop failed, or you dug too early and the potatoes were small.

The classic scene
A farmer leans on a hoe and watches a bush where six pentacles hang like fruit. The seventh lies at his feet. He does not pick them, he simply looks.
The pose is waiting and evaluation. The pentacles have grown, but are not yet harvested. Saturn in Taurus creates slow growth and delayed reward.

Astrology
In the Golden Dawn system this card is Saturn in Taurus — the third decan of Taurus (20°–30°). Saturn, the planet of time, slows the growth of fertile earth: the harvest is not ready yet, and patience is tested by doubt. The Golden Dawn calls it the Lord of Success Unfulfilled; the card weighs whether the work deserves more time.

Fermentatio. The substance ripens in darkness and changes its nature.
