Introduction
The King of Cups is the wise father figure of the suit. He has felt every emotion, but he is no longer ruled by them. He sits on a floating throne in a turbulent sea, yet he remains perfectly steady.
He represents the balance between the head and the heart. He is the diplomat, the counselor, and the compassionate leader. He teaches us that we can be sensitive and strong at the same time.

Reversed, the King of Cups loses his balance. He becomes the master of manipulation, using his knowledge of feelings to control others. Or, he becomes overwhelmed by his own demons, turning to addiction or repression.

Repressed anger exploding. Mood swings. Inability to cope with stress.

Drinking to drown feelings. Escaping responsibility.
